Seriously.
Audible grenades are just like a player running around going "bang-bang". Not everyone likes them, but they're cheap, widely available, and can be used on nearly every field.
But still, it's mostly used just as a distraction device.
It's 2016, so you'd think there's a manufacturer that has perfected the shrapnel grenade. Sort of. There's a catch (see below).

Tornado by Airsoft Innovations
Airsoft Innovations created two types of grenades, impact and timer. Can you guess how each one functions? It is a completely reusable propane-powered grenade. It emits over 200 bbs through the use of what they call "spiral technology". The bbs are loaded through two holes that are designed in a spiral, so as the gas is exiting the grenade, the force causes it to spin...like a tornado. With various colors to match your wardrobe and laws, the Tornado is a great choice for those who love to eat Skittles or those who have a really hard time finding their grenades after they've been tossed.

GM1 by Zoxna
If you'd like something that's a little more "Even Steven", the GM1 by Zoxna is a great pick.
Based in Europe, the GM1's design features 360 degrees of evenly spaced holes, so fill your airsoft fantasies and shove your 216 bbs in there. This gives a much better hit expectation knowing that you'll have full coverage, especially in smaller spaces.
Rechargable through green gas, there's no need to go looking for your core. Be careful where you toss this thing, it's completely made of aluminum alloy. You could take "head shot" to a whole new level.

M10 Ball Grenade by TLSF
Perhaps the most realistic of all the shrapnel airsoft grenades, TLSF manufactures a wide range of grenades. 11 to be exact, and it includes stick grenades.
Using friction, and therefore pyrotechnics, it isn't very friendly in many fire-hazardous places. However, if you're one of the lucky ones who plays in the UK, the North Pole, or a place that rains a lot, you can snag yourself an airsoft grenade THAT ACTUALLY EXPLODES. Yes, these suckers will detonate like a real frag.
There's also a bio version that uses dried peas rather than plastic bbs.
This UK company is doing realism right, but it just sucks that it uses an open flame. Good luck trying to bring this to California...
